JANUARY 31, 2010 - FEBRUARY 6, 2010 “A + for America" Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration that focuses attention on the good work done by the nation’s Catholic schools. The week will be observed January 31 to February 6. According to the president of the National Catholic Education Association, Karen Ristau, “Catholic schools provide good things for students and families - high expectations and daily experiences of faith. In these challenging times, the theme also reminds parents that the dividends of a Catholic school education - students prepared in faith, knowledge, morals, and discipline - last a lifetime. There is no better way to invest in a child’s future - or the future of the world.” As part of Catholic schools week, National Appreciation Day for Catholic Schools will be observed on Wednesday, Feb. 3. This day was established to encourage supporters nationwide to showcase to elected officials the great accomplishments and contributions of Catholic schools. In Washington, D.C., a delegation of Catholic school students, teachers, and parents will visit Capitol Hill to meet with congressional leaders to promote Catholic schools. The mission of Saint Peter’s School continues to be a center of sturdy Catholicism from the date of its inception in 1867. The school began with 20 students but, by 1933, almost 500 students attended the splendid new Saint Peter’s School. In this new century with its challenging economy, 200 students from pre-k3 through grade 8 presently attend Saint Peter’s School. We are extremely proud of the diversity of our students, the distinguished dedication and quality of our professional teaching staff, and the Gospel spirit of a caring community that permeates all that we do to serve one another. |
