June 14, 2019

Today was my last official day at Saint Peter School. I am retiring at the end of this month. This school has been my home for the last 17 years. I have so many wonderful memories of students, parents, teachers… I am sorry to be going but I know St. Peter School will continue to flourish and our students will continue to do many more marvelous things. I will be back for Pasta night, the Spring play and just to visit. St. Peter School will always hold a special place in my heart.

Have a safe and marvelous summer!

Good morning,
Just a reminder that a letter is going home today with all the details for graduation. If you have any questions, just ask.

Remember Thursday is a free Tag Day for the 8th grade only and Mrs. Sisco has decided they are to be dismissed at 12:30 on Thursday, June 6.

The Graduation Mass is at 11:00 with Commencement at 12:30. Coffee and cake will be served in the gym after graduation. The students will then receive their report cards.

New IXL Policy –Grades 6, 7, 8

There will be a new policy concerning IXL for the 3rd trimester. It will once again be counted as 1 homework assignment for the week. It will no longer be a quiz grade.

Each week the students will still be given several sections they can do. Now they must reach a Smart Score total of 100 points. This can be accomplished with 1 section or a combination of sections. For example, they can get 45 points in 1 section, 35 points in another section, and 20 points in a 3rd section for a total of 100 points. For every 50 extra Smart Score points, students will get 1 extra credit point towards this assignment.

Therefore, if students do their homework every night and get a Smart Score of 100 to 149 points, their homework grade is 100% for that week. If all homework is done and students get over 150 Smart Score points they will get 101% or more for their homework grade.

If not done, the grade will be a 0.

Also, they need to get 50 stickers each week on First in Math or they lose participation points.

I’m hoping to make this last semester a great one!

Dear Students,

Happy New Year! I hope you had an enjoyable break.

Here are some reminders for you as we start the new school year:

  • All schoolwork is to be done neatly – that includes seatwork, quizzes, tests, and homework. I will not accept anything crossed out. Put errors in parentheses or if too many errors are on one paper, then rewrite the paper or erase, if the subject is Math.
  • All homework must be done completely – so do not leave empty questions, and if it is algebra, make sure the variable is written. If these directions are not followed, it will be counted as homework not done which will lower your participation/homework grade.
  • When someone is speaking, all others will listen. Please raise your hand to speak and wait to be acknowledged to do so.
  • Have all you own supplies. Do not lend your supplies to anyone else and do not ask for supplies. Please see the supply list that was given to you with your summer work.
  • Be quiet in the hallways and stairways.
  • Make sure you have everything needed for other classes before leaving your homeroom.
  • Grade 8: Upon entering our classroom, please unpack quickly and quietly. Sharpen pencils and complete the work on the Smart board.

Thank you, Mrs. Reese

The faculty is attending Mass at the Cathedral at 1 PM. Friday is also Tag Day. The children should wear red.

Please be advised that all students are required to get 50 stickers each week on First in Math. They can start on Sunday and it ends on Saturday at midnight.

Reminders: the form for applying to their 3 high schools was given to the students last Monday. It was due today. Without it, I cannot send their grades to their high schools. Please send it in tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 24. Also the $20 fee for classroom parties and the basket raffle later this year is also past due.

Finally, in order for students to stay for extra help after school, we need a signed slip from the classroom or even a note from home. We must have a parent’s permission in writing or the child cannot stay.

We have more visiting us in the next few weeks. Please visit several for their Open Houses and let your child be a Freshman for the day at their first choice. Towards the end of the month, I’ll  be sending home a form on which you will need to list their 3 choices for high school. They will also need to finish any other requirements for applying to those 3 schools. It’s all the the fold-out I gave you on Back to School night. If you have any questions, please see me or email me at reesegradeeight@yahoo.com or reesegradeeight@stpeter-school.org.
